19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
